[Q] What tutorial should I follow in order to unlock this device running GB? topic

I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the tutorials that there are and I am not sure which one I should follow.

A friend of mine gave me his Galaxy Note N7000 because it was painfully slow. I have unlocked/rooted/flashed etc. several times other devices, but not with one as old as this one. It runs Android 2.3.6 and it is not OTA upgradeable for some reason. I Just want to flash a stable CM 10 ROM and leave it like that for the rest of its days.

Thank you for your time.

[Q] GT-S5360 Android 4-4-4 KitKat Tutorial: Drivers and Help Needed topic

I've successfully installed the LiquidSmooth ROM on my Kindle Fire HD, so now I'm keen to update my Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360.

I've read this tutorial, which seems to be written for my level (newbie). However, when I switch my S5360 into USB Debugging Mode, Windows 7 64-bit can't find the drivers; Device Manager shows this:

It needs drivers for BCM21553-Thunderbird, CDC Abstract Control Model (ACM), and CDC ACM Data

Any suggestions?

Also, any comments on the above tutorial?

I'm doing it on a spare phone first, but I will need to backup my real one.
